DLG Digital - The Movie
Our ‘About Us’ video was out of date. It was shot in our old office, and it no longer showed what it’s really like to work at DLG Digital.
It was time for a makeover.
If you’re considering a job here, or you just want to spot your face in a sea of footage, this video gives a true depiction of what it’s like to work here, at DLG Digital.
How did I approach it?
Here are some general guidelines I followed:
- Show don’t tell
I didn’t want talking heads, or people saying how much they enjoy working here. I wanted to show this through the imagery and overall energy of the video.
- Make it short
I wanted to keep the video to under one minute. Any longer and it would begin to drag.
- Make it fun and share-worthy
I wanted people to feel proud about where they work, sharing the video with family and friends.
- Show the work and the brands
Although DLG Digital is a fun place to work, it’s also a place of collaboration and hard work.
- Feature as many people as possible
People are important (more about this later)!
- Make it watchable without sound
Not everyone can watch media with sound, so the video has to make sense without it. This means no talking heads, or long narrative voiceovers.
How did I get the material?
Earlier this year, the creative team was asked to think about the good and bad things about working here. We wrote them on sticky notes, which were then stuck on a board for the whole team to look at and discuss.
When it came to making the video, this list was a great starting point to identify what material should be included. Things such as the open office space, having a Mac to work on and our great brands are all things I've chosen to show in the video.
It’s all about the people
The thing that came up time and time again was ‘the people’. At Digital we’ve got an abundance of good people and I made sure that this was reflected in the video.
With all this in mind, I scanned through footage I’d captured in the office and stitched it together. From table tennis games, to idea generation sessions, to huddles and stand ups – I hope you get a real feel for what it’s like working here at DLG Digital.
